Shahul Hameed still lives...

Today I was listening to Thiruda Thiruda - A.R.Rahman's 3rd movie which whenever I listen transforms me to the slogging days of 12th Standard. However, I was listening to Raasaathi en usuru ennuthilla and remembered the voice - Shahul Hameed - the unfortunate singer who died so young in a car crash near Chennai in 1998 or around that time. I was appreciating the intense song the way Shahul Hameed had song with so much passion and life - I felt sad. How unfortunate - he could have been a great singer with his high pitch and powerful voice.

However, he still lives on. 10 years down the line, a soul thought about him. Isn't that wonderful. Very few can leave a mark on the world they lived - it is easy for artists - musicians, painters, singers, dancers, actors, writers. What will people like me leave behind?

Anyway, Shahul Hameed - your voice is immortal. Thanks for the great song.

  3. He is always with us!
To say that people who have are different from others is Shahul Hameed.
His voice is different from everyone else's and doesn't sound similar to any other singer.
He became popular on TV in 1982. He has sang in more than 30 songs in Izhanthenral and Mezhisa shows.
ARR background is in TV. So he got ARR's friendship. They first collaborated for religious songs (Deen Isai Malai- ARR as Dilip Kumar).
    AFTER?
Rehman entered cinema. Shahul Hameed was not interested in cinema that much. Rehman asked him to sing in "THIRUDA THIRUDA". he sang. When Mani Rathnam heard that song, 'Raasaathi ennusiru' he praised him. After that song, he sang 'Senthamizh Nadu'. The song released and made me very popular. Then 'THIRUDA THIRUDA' released and made him more popular. Like that the song in Kizhaku Cheemai...
Rahman has been making him sang in most of the movies he puts music

  12. I believe that Shahul Hameed is indeed a great singer, i just finished listening to "Senthamil Naatu" from Vandi Solla Chinarrasu. I would also like to take this opportunity to take my hat off to Mr. A.R. Rahman for creating such beautiful music that we still listen today no matter how long ago it was made. For example, i still listen to No Problem from Love Birds, and that movie has been out for more than a decade. So I feel that great singers like Shahul Hameed still live on through the great music of A.R. Rahman. It's a very nice thought Mr. Venkatraman :D
